Swege For Rudder Cable
For use with 1/16 in. stainless steel rudder cable.
Common on Necky, Old Town, Ocean Kayak, Perception, Dagger and Wilderness Systems kayaks.
How to:
- Crimp the swage by squeezing it very tightly with a Rudder Cable Crimper Cutter Tool or Vice Grips. You may need to squeeze it a couple times.
- Carefully cut off the waste end of the cable close to the swage. If you placed a second swage on the cable it can be slipped over the frayed end and squeezed in place, covering the sharp wires, and adding extra security.
- Alternatively: Wind some duct tape over the frayed end if necessary.
